All test shots of the Me 262 A-1a in 1/72 scale have just arrived at our office. This is one of the final and most important milestones in developing the new kit – the moment when we can finally see the digital project transformed into real plastic and assess how the molds perform on the machine.

Below we share our first impressions and show the complete set of sprues straight from the tool shop.

First look at the sprues

Right away it’s clear that the quality of the initial shots is very promising. Most details have come out crisp and sharp, surfaces are clean and smooth, and the overall look of the model matches exactly what we aimed for during the design phase.

We are especially pleased with:

  • the thin, scale-accurate tail surfaces,
  • the wing slats,
  • the sharp and convincing panel lines.

What still needs refinement?

As with any first test shots, it’s perfectly normal to find areas that need adjustment. We identified, among other things:

  • a few details that we want to make slightly more pronounced,
  • some elements where pins will be added or refined,
  • typical early-stage flash and short shots resulting from initial mold settings.

Model under construction — Marcin Ciepierski test-builds the kit

In parallel, we have begun a test build of the model. Marcin Ciepierski is already working on the Me 262 to:

  • check the practical fit of all parts,
  • ensure the assembly process is smooth and intuitive,
  • prepare comprehensive feedback for the tool shop.

Pre-order — launching in December

The model is now very close to final completion.

The current schedule is:

December – pre-order launch (once markings and decals are finalized),

January – the kit becomes available.

Stay tuned!

This is the first — but certainly not the last — step in presenting our 1/72 Me 262. Keep an eye on the blog and our social media; we’ll be sharing more very soon!
