Fuad Pashayev, a great modeller from Baku, Azerbaijan, has built both Arma Hobby’s 1/48th scale Airacobras, the kits being the P-39Q (kit number 40010) and P-39N (kit number 40011).
The models came out very impressive, take a look at the gallery!
P-39Q in coral camouflage
For the P-39Q kit from box number 40010, Fuad chose a very original and striking coral camouflage of Makin Island, lost in the midst of the Pacific. Both the top and bottom of this aircraft were painted in unusual colours so that the aircraft would not be visible on the coral sand-covered island.
Shark-mouthed P-39N
From the P-39N box number 40011, Fuad chose the colours of an American squadron stationed in Corsica and Sardinia. The camouflage is typical, Olive Drab/Neutral Gray, but the aircraft is decorated with a beautiful toothed shark’s mouth. The plane is believed to have been used for reconnaissance sorties, its tailplane and wingtips painted to resemble a Messerschmitt from a distance and not arouse suspicion of the Germans.
