With great pride and joy, we announce that the Arma Hobby 1/48 Hurricane kit line has been awarded the gold medal “Model of the Year 2024” by the famous German magazine Modell Fan. The winners of this prestigious award in the modelling industry are announced every year in February at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg.
Although the company’s portfolio already includes several such awards, this year’s medal is special – for the first time we were awarded for a plastic model kit in the very demanding 1/48 scale!
Sea Hurricane Mk IIc – 1/48 supermodel with 3D prints
To celebrate this, we decided to release a unique Hurricane kit using medal-winning sprues in 1/48 scale: Sea Hurricane Mk IIc with three unique markings and a big set of precise 3D-printed details.
The box’s contents are primarily highly detailed plastic sprues with the finest surface details including recessed and raised riveting (in line with the original), which won not only a gold medal but also excellent ratings from reviewers and modellers worldwide.
The uniqueness of this kit is determined by a large set of 3D resin prints, allowing easy conversion to the Sea Hurricane standard: the fuselage bottom and arrestor hook (conversion does not require cutting plastic parts!), as well as precise details such as gun barrels, exhaust tubes and a seat with seatbelts – in a quality impossible to obtain in plastic.
The liveries are also unique: “7K” – a killer of the four-engine Junkers Ju-290, i.e. a boxart white fighter from the aircraft carrier HMS Nairana; “S-like-Sugar” with a pin-up girl unique in the conservative Royal Navy, and a British plane with American stars painted to confuse the French during Operation Torch – the landing in French North Africa.
All this will allow you – without the need to buy additional accessories – to build an extremely impressive and superbly detailed Sea Hurricane Mk IIc model in 1/48 scale!
