Three silvers, one gold and a special award, were won by Arma Hobby models at one of the world’s largest model competitions – the IPMS USA 2024 National Convention, held in Madison, Wisconsin, on 20 July. Arma Hobby was also honoured with its own category, sponsored by IPMS USA: the Arma Hobby Best Model Award.

Here is a brief overview of the medal-winning models.

1/48 – Hurricane

In the RAF/Commonwealth single engine, in-line, 1/48 scale prop aircraft category, Arma Hobby Hurricanes dominated the podium, taking gold and silver. Only in third place was the Spitfire …

1/72 – Yak and Hayate

Another silver, this time in 1/72 scale, went to Steve Baker’s Yak-1b.

Another silver was awarded to the Ki-84 Hayate made by Scott Samo.

Special Prize: Best ARMA Hobby Model Award

Steve Baker’s beautiful Yakovlev also received a special award: ‘Best Arma Hobby model’ – sponsored by IPMS USA.
