Hurricane SD-A – Gallery – Willem Dierijck

Photos of the first diorama with Hurricane have been posted in our gallery. Willem Dierijck from the Netherlands has built model from Expert set and placed it on the diorama of Battle of Britain dispersal. Aeroplane is accompanied by vehivles and personnel figurines from various manufacturer. See photos and read notes on assembly and kits used!

No aftermarket items were needed except for decals to make the serial number P2760 with and it was built straight out of the box with Ammo Mig, AK-Interactive Real Colors plus assorted Revell and Humbrol enamels.

Fit is suberb when care is taken to make the cockpit side frames sit flush with their mounting points. Aerial wire is the finest Uschi van der Rosten variant. Weathering was done with eye shadow make up as the usual washes have a bit high viscosity and little amount of grime. The Tilly truck is stock Airfix except for decals, an altered steering geometry and the Brengun PE parts. Of course the CMK figure set had to be used with a mixture of Milicast parts plus various modifications, the bicycle is again from Brengun Models painted to RAF service spec. The little cat was made by Leonardo Torricini and painted to look like Scramble, the mascot to The Kent Battle of Britain Museum at former RAF Hawkinge where 501 squadron was briefly stationed with Spitfire Vc’s. As for the Hurricane model itself this is finished to represent the aircraft flown by mr. Paul Farnes who is still alive to this day, and will eventually be a part of a large dispersal diorama depicting a scene at RAF Kenley from where it flew with mr. Farnes.

I greatly enjoyed building this and as a result acquired a large amount of Overtrees to build more models from!
