I present a gallery of the finished tropical Hawker Hurricane Mk IIb model in 1/72 scale. I built the model in a 1942 Burma campaign scheme, using DP Casper decals. It represents BE171 “YB-B” from No. 17 Squadron RAF, operating in Burma in February 1942, in Dark Earth / Middle Stone over Azure Blue camouflage with a black spinner. The model was painted with Mr. Hobby paints.
The aircraft is interesting because it carries Type A roundels on the upper wing surfaces — with white in the roundel — while the standard at that time was already the red-and-blue Type B roundel. Red was soon removed from markings in South East Asia Command (SEAC) because of its obvious similarity to enemy insignia.
