The 1/72 scale P-51D Mustang from Arma Hobby has attracted a great deal of interest since its release. A legendary aircraft combined with brand-new tooling and a high level of detail naturally encouraged reviewers from both Poland and abroad to take a closer look. We gathered the most interesting video and written reviews – from calm, factual analyses to more sharp-tongued commentary – to see how this new approach to the Mustang in 1/72 scale performs in practice.

Video Reviews – First Impressions in Real Time

Two Polish YouTube reviewers take the kit out of the box and examine it in detail: sprues, surface detail, parts breakdown and canopy. Both highlight the crisp molding quality, sharp panel lines, well-designed cockpit and impressive fit of parts. Even before assembly, the kit leaves a strong, positive impression – and the enthusiasm of the presenters is easy to notice.

Both videos are in Polish, but you can switch to English in the YouTube settings – one offers an English audio track, the other provides English subtitles (CC).

Koszaliński Portal Modelarski – Structured and Informative

Marcin Wawrzynkowski presents a very systematic, well-organised review, analysing every sprue and part step by step. The article balances praise with practical comments and gives readers a clear picture of what they will find in the box. The fit, surface detail and included options are appreciated, while minor technical notes are presented as helpful information rather than criticism. It’s an excellent review for modelers who like to understand the kit fully before starting the build.

KFS Miniatures (Kraków) – Sharp-Tongued but Appreciative

Kamil Feliks Sztarbała (KFS) is known for his sharp writing style and taste for playful jabs. His review of the Mustang also includes a few deliberate “for the sake of it” remarks, and he especially points out the lack of full riveting on the fuselage – even though most surface detail is well represented.

However, despite these jabs, he clearly praises the kit’s overall quality, smart engineering, historical accuracy and modern design approach. When someone as demanding as KFS acknowledges that the kit is impressive, it says a lot.

Hyperscale – An International Perspective

Hyperscale notes that Arma Hobby approached the Mustang differently than previous manufacturers. The review highlights realistic surface texture, dimensional accuracy, clever part breakdown and the range of configuration options. The kit is described as a fresh take on the P-51D in 1/72 scale, and one that could become a new reference point for future releases.

Final Thoughts

Regardless of tone – structured (Koszalin), technical (Hyperscale) or sharp-tongued (KFS) – reviewers agree on one thing: the Arma Hobby 1/72 P-51D Mustang is one of the best-engineered kits of this aircraft on the market. Excellent detail, thoughtful construction, realism and configuration options make it a kit that naturally encourages building. Minor remarks (such as partial riveting) appear more for balance than as actual criticism.

It’s a model that doesn’t just look good – it represents a fresh, well-executed approach to the Mustang in 1/72 scale.
