Tom Grigat, a great visual artist and modeller from Germany, is known for his amazing stop-motion modelling animations posted on the YouTube channel TOMs Modelling in Motion. Tom always presents models in an original way, adding something crazy and unusual to each of his videos.

This time he presented and built a 1/72 scale Arma Hobby Ki-43 II Hayabusa model using kit-included 3D file for self-printing details, covering the model with real metal foil, riveting the surfaces and painting all the markings. He documented all this step by step in an animated video. There’s not much more to say, it’s a must see!

Under the YouTube video, Tom wrote to viewers:

Whether you’re a scale modeler, WWII aircraft enthusiast, or just love creative, story-driven builds—this video is for you. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and let me know in the comments: Do you know more about the mysterious Manchukuo oil company or the meaning behind these markings?

After watching, go to Tom’s YouTube and appreciate his work by leaving a ‘thumbs up’!

Older Tom’s animation – Fokker!

This is not the first Arma Hobby model kit in Tom Grigat’s artistic portfolio. A few years ago, our little 1/72 scale Fokker E.V/D.VIII inspired him to create an allegorical story about the magic of modelling and the modeler’s developing bond with his creation – in this film, the model aircraft became, for a time, a living creature that the modeler befriends.
