Our latest model kit of the Airacobra is a reconnaissance variants of the popular P-39N and P-39Q versions. Included in the box are the “Model of the Year 2023” award-winning sprues, new decals for some very interesting markings, masks for painting and 3D printed camera lenses for easy conversion. And, of course, steel balls to load the nose to keep the Cobra standing on the front wheel.
Let’s look into the box!
Kit includes:
- plastic parts (2 grey sprues and 1 clear sprue)
- 3D-printed resin camera lenses (a double set just in case)
- canopy and wheel masks
- decals with three marking options (USA)
- steel balls for nose weight
Plastic sprues
The kit contains very precisely made plastic sprues: two made of grey plastic and one clear. These are the same sprues as in the earlier Arma Hobby 1/72 scale Airacobra boxes, awarded the ‘Model of the Year 2023’ medal at the Nuremberg Fair!
The clear parts are the canopy, doors, gunsight and landing light. Quality is excellent: thin and clear!

3D-printed resin
Using 3D-printing technology, we provided the resin camera lenses with the fairing and a template to easily create an opening for mounting the cameras. You will need the one set of two lenses, but we provided two sets, just in case.
Self-adhesive masks
Ready-made, pre-cut and self-adhesive masks made of excellent Japanese “kabuki” paper, produced by Techmod, will make the painting of the wheels and the canopy easy and precise.
Decals
Reconnaissance Airacobras came in a variety of camouflages and markings, and we have chosen the most attractive possible, including a rare and very striking aircraft in natural metal colour with a pin-up girl! Decals produced by Techmod guarantee trouble-free application and very good resolution and print quality.
The decals also contain many stencils, seatbelts and cockpit equipment elements, including very precisely reproduced instrument panel.
Steel balls
To make the Cobra stand on the nose wheel, we included steel balls in the kit that are placed in sockets designed in the nose part of the fuselage. Everything fits perfectly.
