Ki-84 Hayate 1/72 model kit project is close to completion. The last works on the mould corrections are progressing. Meanwhile, let’s see what, apart from plastic, will be in the box.
Expert Set model kits always include additional accessories. In addition to a large decal sheet in the Expert box, you will find photo-etched details and masks helping you paint the canopy.
Photo-etched details are a way to bypass the technological barriers that plastic model kit manufacturers encounter in the design of plastic injection moulds. Increasing quality of the plastic sprues mean that we may design less details in the PE. Our designer Maciej “Wrona” Wroński tells about it. The PE set in Hayate doesn’t need to be large: it contains engine wiring, seatbelts, radiator mesh (two variants) and various levers for the cockpit.

A large decal sheet allows you to make the model in six different colours. It contains a set of individual markings, as well as two sets of Japanese Hinomaru national markings and the smallest stencils and decals for interior details such as the instrument panel, belts, etc. This decal allows you to make two models, using separately sold plastic sprues, the so-called overtrees.
We have been printing decals only in the Polish company Techmod for some time. We believe that their quality is no longer inferior to foreign companies. This is clearly visible in the smallest details, such as the instruments on the control panel.
Thanks to Japanese modelers’ advice, we decided to supplement the decal with additional yellow lines marking the wing fuel tank.
We are very excited to announce the return of masks made of Japanese kabuki paper. They were unavailable for a while, we had to replace them with stiffer oramasks. No longer. Laser-cut kabuki paper masks adhere well even to the most convex surfaces, perfectly protecting transparent parts against painting.
