boxart 40001 September 1939 was a dramatic time in the history of Europe and the World, when a lonely Poland defended itself against the double aggression of Nazi Germany and Stalin’s Soviet Union.
Although the numerical and technical superiority of the aggressors gave no chance for an equal fight, the Poles defended themselves courageously, proving their skills on many occasions. In the air, the PZL all-metal gull-winged fighters, once the most modern in the world and exported to many countries, but by 1939 already obsolete, became legendary. It was on the PZL P.7 and P.11 that Polish pilots achieved victories and gained invaluable experience, which allowed them to defeat the Germans so effectively a year later in the Battle of Britain, where the Polish No. 303 Squadron proved the most effective among the Allies.
