The final test shots of the last sprue, containing the fuselage and propeller components of the new Hurricane Mk I 1/48, have arrived from our tool shop. The details look excellent and everything indicates that production may start later this week. If the schedule holds, we expect to begin shipping before the end of November.

Test shots are now in our hands

We now have the fuselage halves, the new radiator, the tropical filter for the Mk I version, and the propeller components: two propeller types and three spinners. In the photos you can see the key parts we are testing before launching the mold into full production. The wings, shared parts from previous versions and the canopy are, of course, already ready for production.

Surface detail – fabric and metal just like the original

The fuselage halves show the full variety of surface textures typical of early Hurricanes: fabric-covered sections, aluminum panels with very fine rivets, dzus fasteners, air intakes and outlets, and ventilation slots. These varied textures and micro-details were among the most challenging parts of the project, which is why we are pleased to see them reproduced exactly as planned in the test shots.

New components and structural details

The sprue also includes the correct Mk I radiator and the tropical filter, both redesigned compared to the versions released two years ago. Pay special attention to the elements visible after removing the propeller — the engine block representation and the internal detail of the Rotol spinner’s rear section, also used on the Spitfire. These details add extra character to the model right from the assembly stage.

What’s next?

The test shots are very successful, and if the assembly tests reveal no unexpected issues, we will begin serial production in about a week. We hope to start shipping the finished model before the end of November. Soon we will show more photos and additional elements of the set: optional 3D prints and decals.
