Injection-moulded plastic has its limits. That’s why we’ve prepared something extra – a set of 3D accessories that will help you bring out the finest details in your 1/72 scale P-51D/K Mustang.
Two ways to upgrade your Mustang
👉 Free 3D file – every purchase of the P-51D Mustang kit includes a QR code giving you access to a downloadable file for home 3D printing.
👉 Ready 3D print – already available as an option when purchasing the P-51D Mustang kit. Starting this October, the accessory set will also be available separately as a standalone product.
What’s inside the accessory set?
-
Pilot’s seat with harnesses (Warren MacArthur type) – in traditional kits, photo-etched belts must be bent and arranged manually on the seat, which doesn’t always result in a realistic look. With 3D printing, the harnesses are already designed in a natural drape – ready to paint straight out of the box.
-
Exhaust stacks in two variants – with and without shrouds. Each stack features hollowed-out ends, something extremely difficult to achieve by drilling such small plastic parts yourself. Choose the type fitted to your selected aircraft.
-
Machine gun barrels – all faithfully modelled with hollow openings. A major advantage is the correct difference in length: the outer barrels extend ahead of the leading edge, while the inner ones – closer to the fuselage – are recessed. This distinctive Mustang feature is very hard to capture with standard plastic parts.
With these 3D accessories, your Mustang will gain the extra character and fine details impossible to reproduce in injection-moulded plastic.
